Now there was a man in their synagogue with an unclean spirit. And he cried out, saying, "Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did you come to destroy us? Grace can be undermined in effect if we lack proper conception and comprehension of its nature, its enhancers and its inhibitors. A person can receive God’s grace and underutilize it. Victory over addictions and destructive habits begins with basic understanding and a healthy acceptance of responsibilities. Addiction is not something that HAPPENS to a person; it is something that a person DOES. This is crucial. Take some responsibility for where you are at. We will eventually consider the role of satan and demons in the addiction web, but you have to take some responsibility first. No one becomes addicted to anything overnight, or suddenly and without their active initial cooperation. Before a practice or vice becomes an addiction, it begins as a choice. O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary. He has to be brother to someone. A father needs to have a child to qualify as father. Not so with God. He exists, all by Himself, needing no one to qualify Him. His admission to Godhood is intrinsic, is self-sustained. It is not relative to anything or anyone else. Before there was anybody to call Him God, He was very God. Humanity has always been enamoured of immortality: in the folk stories, myths, legends and religious code of every civilization are to be found echoes of our collective resilient fantasies about immortality. Sci-Fi books and movies regularly explore the subject. In one sentence: we sustain a copious and curious resistance to the overworn fact that Humans die. We don't want to die. Nay, even more: we don't think we should die. Yet, there is a dilemma, more like conflict. Two related sets of conflict actually. A first set is underpinned by Geography and the second set is underpinned by Anthropology. Geography driven conflict: This is irrespective of where (country, city, town) you live.
